Gov. Jerry Brown has signed a bill phasing out gillnets used to catch swordfish.
The 2018-19 Southeast Alaska winter troll fishery will open Oct. 11 with a quota of 45,000 non-Alaska, hatchery-produced Chinook salmon.
The Bering Sea snow crab quota is up 45 percent, while the limit for Bristol Bay red king crab is down 35 percent.
Petersburg's borough assembly has passed a resolution in support of Alaska's embattled salmon hatchery program.
With the season all but done, the total harvest stands at 113.5 million fish.
